Taras’s prophecy comes true – Ukraine comes to life
In March, 2014 the world community and the Ukrainian community will celebrate the 200th anniversary of birthday of the famous Ukrainian people’s son – Taras Grigorievich Shevchenko. Getting ready to this important date the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks are making a lot currently for our contemporaries to appreciate the true value of great Kobzar’s contribution to the spiritual of the Ukrainian People.
The majestic monument to the spiritual father of the Ukrainian People Taras Shevchenko was opened in one of the central parks of Yalta, in Moskovskaya Street.
The famous sculptor from Canada Leonid Molodozhanin, the author of monuments to Kobzar in Washington, Buenos Aires, Saint Petersburg recreated young Taras in bronze according to his self-portrait.
It’s the third monument to Taras in Crimea – two monuments are installed in Sevastopol, near Gagarinskaya district state administration and headquarters of NFAF of Ukraine.
The bronze monument with height of 3 m and weight more that 2 tons was manufactured in Argentina for means of doctor Vasilyi Ivanitskyi and his wife Natalya Bundza – Ivanitskaya. The mission to immortalize the riot spirit of the rebellious poet and our prophet in the Crimean peninsular was taken by the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks headed by Hetman of the URC, Corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, professor Anatolyi Shevchenko and Foundation of T.G. Shevchenko headed by Bogdan Vuiko. They transported the sculpture to Yalta and submitted a petition for allocation of land for the monument.
Opening the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Yalta was turned into crowded light holiday which gathered under state and Cossack flags the Registered Cossacks from different regions of Ukraine, representatives from communities of Yalta, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Alushta and other cities.
The representative of the President of Ukraine in the CAR Vladimir Homenko, the head of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Viktor Plakida, mayor of Yalta Sergei Braiko, Lady Natakya Bundza – Ivanitskaya, Hetman of the URC, Corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, professor Anatolyi Shevchenko and other took part in the solemn ceremony.
Making a speech in the meeting the mayor of Yalta Sergei Braiko stressed that installing the monument to Kobzar in Yalta would assist to the revival of Ukrainian in the Crimean peninsular, upbringing patriotism and national consciousness of young people, cultural development.
Participants of the meeting listened attentively to hetman of the URC Anatolyi Shevchenko who that Taras’s way to the cut monument in Yalta was difficult and trodden will of years by dozens of patriots who thought the poetic will of Taras Shevchenko to be the basis of the Ukrainian existence, human dignity.
“The Lord, give us Shevchenko’s spirit, firmness, dignity, wisdom, faith in our future”, - the head of the Registered Cossacks said addressing people who gathered on the square in front of the monument.
The President of Foundation of T.G. Shevchenko Bogdan Vuiko, the head of Crimean organization of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks Anatolyi Franchuk, the director of Yaltinskaya Ukrainian school Elena Gazizova, the deputy of Yalta City Council Natalya Charochnikova, residents of Yalta told about the role of powerful person of Kobzar currently and in the future of Ukraine. Bogdan Vuiko stressed that Foundation of T.G. Shevchenko and the URC have got several projects on popularizing Ukrainian history, culture and symbols.
After blessing the monument and imposition the flowers in front of it there’s happened kobzars performance. Then grey – haired veterans, students and pupils read poems by Taras Shevchenko and other Ukrainian poets, sang folk song under the diversity of state flags.
It was decided by the community to hold all state and other holidays near Kobzar’s monument and the Registered Cossacks would tend the park and the monument.
As it was reported by the head of Crimea organization of the URC Anatolyi Franchuk, lot of applications about entry the URC were received in the headquarters of republican organization of the Registered Cossacks after opening the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
