Cossack embankment on the bank of the river Kalmius, according to the common view of the citizens of Donetsk and guests of the industrial city, has added to its beauty and attractiveness.It goes without saying that the embankment has become a kind of a monument to those who went by water ways from island Khortitsa, along the river Samara, to the river Osinkovaya to pass around a Turkish fortress Kizikerman. They drew their "chaikas" to the river Shirokaya, which flows into the Kalmius and then to the Azov Sea along this river. On the bank of the full-flowing river, in the place where it flows into the Metioda, there was situated a Cossack fortress Kalmius, a garrison of which controlled the entrance and exit to the Azov Sea.

On both sides of one of the largest the main lines, the prospect after Iliich, lies the beauty embankment, which stretches along the flow of the Kalmius.

Forces of the Cossack organization have been attracted to building the embankment. Opening the embankment, the city head A.Lukiyanchenko presented hetman of the Ukrainian registerd Cossacks Anatoli Shevchenko a "credential" - a memorable sign in honor of Cossacks. The Hetman firmly promised that the Registered Cossacks will serve vigilantly on the Cossack embankment, protecting order and peace of those who rest there.

Of course, the Cossack embankment has become a bright spot on the picture of Donetsk, which is being reconstructed into a really European city No wonder this regional center has become the winner of the All-Ukrainian competition for the best accomplishment and order. Donetsk has been awarded Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Ist degree. It has been for the first time!
