Wrestling between young participants of the tournament “Kazatskie zabavy”

Cossacks-kharakterniki are like the Japanese samurais, teenagers know a lot about them. Cossacks had based martial arts and military preparation schools where belief, timeless values and rituals were on the first place. Ukrainians had possibility to learn martial arts of other people; after all there were representatives of 20 nations among Zaporozhtsy. Nowadays we know it as a form of fighting dances - hopak, melnitsa, kazachok.

“Kazatskie zabavy” is an inter-regional tournament. This event has united many styles of east martial arts and fighting hopak. The tournament was held by the Krivoi Rog City Federation of Traditional Karate (КCFТК) by the support of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks.

There were more than 200 sportsmen of all scale of age, 90 award sets were raffled off. There were delegations from many schools and colleges from Krivoi Rog, and also from Sofievsky and Shirokovsky districts among participants.

The honourable КCFТК president Jury Kirichok said that the main idea of the tournament was a healthy life-style popularization among the youth.

“Ukrainian Registered Cossacks pay attention to revival of Cossack traditions, especially among the youth; after all they are the future of Ukraine. Such events should be very successful!” – so said the representative of UPO URC Hetman in the Dnepropetrovsk Region ataman from Krivoi Rog URC colonel general Jury Zasyadvovk.

Winners rewarding with medals and diplomas from UPO URC representatives became a culmination of the feast. The public organization “Komsomolets Krivbassa” has actively joined the tournament organization “Kazatskie Zabavy”.
