On October 15th the I International scientific practical conference "Tolerance and Spirituality in the Ukrainian Society and Modern Concept of the problem of Anti-Semitism and Xenophobia" took place in the building of the Donetsk State Institute of Artificial Intelligence. The organizers of the conference were: the All-Ukrainian social organization "Ukrainian Registered Cossacks", the Federation of the Jewish Communities of Ukraine, the Chief Rabbinate of Ukraine, the Association of National and Cultural Unions of Ukraine, the Donetsk State Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Department of Religious Sciences of the Institute of Philosophy after G.S.Skovoroda of the NAS of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Association of Religious Scientists.
The following questions were brought up at the conference: historical aspects of the ethnic- confessional problems of Ukraine, issues of current importance, including the problem of bringing up the younger generation in the spirit of tolerance and spirituality, and also the problem of organizing cooperation between social organizations and the government in solving the problems connected with xenophobia and anti-Semitism.
One of the most important issues of the conference was the problem of actualization of the role of social and religious organizations as a leading factor in formation of an open tolerant civil society.
Participation of the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Azriel Khaikin has become a unique event of the conference. Azriel spoke with a greeting speech at the conference. He thanked the organizers of the conference and also the Rector of the DonSIAI, Hetman of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks, Leader of the All-Ukrainian Party of Spirituality and Patriotism, Ph. Doctor of Theology, Ph. Doctor of Technical Sciences, Full Professor Anatoli Shevchenko for having brought up such an important current issue and presented him Khanukia - the symbol of light and joy. Anatoli Ivanovich, in his turn, presented the special guest a crystal mace - the symbol of unity.
The participants of the conference hope that it will become the beginning of a wide discussion of the problems of ethnic and confessional relations in Ukraine on the principles of tolerance and spirituality.
Representatives of different religious confessions, scientific workers, representatives of the public of Ukraine, representatives of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks, clergymen and students took part in the conference. The conference was held in a warm friendly atmosphere.
