The Orthodox world has celebrated the Holiday, devoted to Him.

"Saint Nikolai was born at the end of the third century anno dominion in the town of Patra, which is 60 kilometers from Mery in Likia. For good actions and miracles of healing the sick the Christian Church has created Archbishop Nikolai a saint. It is in the name of Saint Nikolai churches have been erected from ancient times. Children honor Nikolai the Miracle Maker as their patron, as a symbol of parental care and love. In the prayer to Saint Nikolai they say, "You, a saint of the Lord, give me your helping Hand and watch me, as you have always watched those, who being in hardship and danger, called your name!".
