Cossack lines grow

Sunday morning in the temple of St. Apostle Foma of Voinka located 22 km to the north from the Krasnoperekopsk District Centre, 19 Cossacks and 2 Bereguinias joined Ukrainian Public Organization “Ukrainian Registered Cossacks”.

The place for this ritual is chosen not casually. Here Cossacks resisted enemies. Even the village Voinka’s name is interpreted as a military settlement. Therefore this place is symbolical.

The ritual usually begins with a solemn formation. So, the chief of the URC staff URC major general Sergey Busalaev ordered the consecration ritual. The prior father Vasily Nemesh read Sunday moleben and mentioned names of new URC Cossacks and Bereguinias.

Main adviser by Main ataman URC colonel general Victor Datsyuk, ataman of the North Crimean kosh URC colonel general Vasily Moskalyov and chief of the URC staff URC colonel Vitaly Gridnyov, ataman from the URC Krasnoperekopsk District Okrug URC major general Anatoly Yakovlev, ataman from the URC Krasnoperekopsk City Okrug URC colonel A. Shcherbakov and assistant to the chief of the URC staff URC lieutenant Anastasiya Gapeshina took also part in this event.

Consecration was held according to the Cossack ritual described in the URC Statutes: new Cossack members read the oath, bend the knee, then ritual with a saber, the flag of Ukraine and the URC banner, and then pastor blesses and sprinkles new Cossacks with sacred water.

Also father congratulated Cossacks and presented them the St. Nicolay Chudotvorets icons, consecrated in the Kiev-Pecherskaya Laura.

After all they all tasted Cossack kulesh. “Glory to the Ukrainian people! Glory to the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks! Glory!”

In one word, consecration into Cossacks-Bereguinias was held solemnly and pompously, despite bad weather.
