The Purpose of the Conference:
To analyze the history of the problem and its present state, and also to analyze general problems connected with theoretical and practical aspects of tolerance in the Ukrainian society, and first of all, their connection with the problems of anti-Semitism and Xenophobia; creation of the corresponding conditions for actualization of the role of social and religious organizations as leading factors in formation of an open tolerant civil society; organization of an active constructive PROTEST component of breaking social, cultural and psychological stereotypes concerning relations between ethnic groups and confessions during the period of creation of a civil society.
Program of the Conference
1. Spiritual aspects of tolerance and the problems of anti-Semitism and xenophobia:
- Tolerance and religious intolerance.
- Spiritual aspects of tolerance.
- Inter-religious and inter-ethnic dialogue as a way to a tolerant society.
- Anti-Semitism and xenophobia as abnormal forms of manifestation of extremism and totalitarianism.
2. Cossacks against xenophobia and anti-Semitism: historical analysis of cultural, religious and political stereotypes.
- Social, psychological, cultural and political peculiarities of mass anti-Jewish actions during the period of liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people under the leadership of Cossacks in the XVII th century. Mutual formation of negative stereotypes.
- The Jews of Ukraine and their participation in creation and stabilization of Hetman government I by Mazepa ( end of XVII-beginning of XVIII centuries).
- Attempts of using the political experience of the Ukrainian Cossacks in solving the problem of inter-ethnic unification in the process of state building ( beginning of the XX th century, end of the XX th and beginning of the XXI th centuries).
- International essence of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks: historic peculiarities of the register.
- Overcoming the stereotypes of ethnic way of thinking as one of the tasks of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks.
- International activity of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks within the system of people diplomacy of modern Ukraine.
- Initiating a dialogue on tolerance and spirituality.
- Ideological, social and cultural importance of the visits of delegations of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks to spiritual and religious leaders of modern world.
3. Specifics of the dialogue and cooperation between the power and people of modern Ukraine.
- Necessity of formation of the stabilizing potential of modern Ukrainian society.
- Ethnic and confessional relations as a field of social dialogues.
- Joint efforts of the state and social components in creating the system of civil control, decrease of social basis of extremism.
4. The problem of education of the new generation in the spirit of tolerance and spirituality. Students and youth and peculiarities of education of tolerance and spirituality in secondary and higher educational establishments.
The conference is terminated with adopting a common declaration against anti-Semitism and xenophobia.
A press- conference "Estimation of the Level of Inter-Ethnic Tension in Modern Ukraine" is to be held after the conference.
- The results of a convent-analysis of manifestation of extremism and anti-Semitism in modern conditions of modern Ukrainian SYOs.
- Characteristics of the sources of manifestation of anti-Semitism in Ukraine as a menace to social stability.
