The IVth extraordinary congress of the All-Ukrainian Party of Spirituality and Patriotism was held in Donetsk.170 delegates from 22 regions of Ukraine, leaders of regional, city and district organizations of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks, scientific workers, representatives of intelligentsia and students took part in the work of the congress.
The party was balloted for Verkhovna Rada and formed a part of the electoral block "Vlada Narodu". The results of the elections and the experience received during the elections-2006 on all the levels of the state power were put forward for discussion at the congress.
The agenda of the congress included approval of the corrected plan of actions of the APSP, with taking into account the experience received during the election campaign, and changes in the Statute of the APSP. Besides that the problems of changing the name of the party was discussed. A renovated staff of the Political Rada of the APSP was approved.
Head of the APSP Anatoli Shevchenko made a report. He analyzed the course of preparation of the All-Ukrainian Party of Spirituality and Patriotism for the elections-2006 and participation of the party members in the electoral race. He stated that the APSP was a young party and therefore it was not ready to take part in the elections independently. That is why it had to unite with the Party of Protection of Pensioners and the Chernobyl People's Party and form the block "Vlada Narou". According to the Head of the APSP to refuse from participation in the elections meant self-disbandment of the party.
Anatoli Shevchenko thinks that the main result of the APSP's participation in the elections is the fact that party candidates have become deputies of local state power bodies in Lvov and Zaporozhie regions, in the Crimea and in several districts of Transcarpathian region.
The APSP Head noted that the ideas which the All-Ukrainian Party of Spirituality and Patriotism realized into life had a lot of adherents the number of whom was growing constantly because people began to realize that spirituality and patriotism was the foundation of any society.
Anatoli Shevchenko pointed out an active work of the Donetsk, Kharkov, Crimean organizations of the APSP who recruited new members to the party's ranks and lead a wide-ranged enlightening work.
The following problems were discussed at the congress: the Cossacks hadn't supported the party in the proper way during the elections; it was necessary to structure the party organizations; it was also necessary to create those organizations not only in regional centers, big cities but in small towns and villages.
Heads of the Ivano-Frankovsk, Lvov, Odessa, Volyn, Zaporozhie, Transcarpathian regional party organizations, the Crimean republic and Sevastopol city party organizations of the APSP took part in discussion of the report. Vasili Grinyov from the Ivano-Frankovsk noted, in particular, that the elections of the current year could be called a rehearsal for the coming elections in which the APSP would obviously take part. The first attempt was far from being a failure. The APSP deputies received mandates in Verkhovenski, Naddnepryanski, Rogatinski district Radas, also in some settlements' and villages' Radas.
The congress delegates spoke about the necessity of strengthening the "youth wing' of the APSP. They noted that it was necessary to start preparation for the coming elections at present.
The delegates decided to put forward the idea of changing the party's name and that of introducing the word "Cossack" into the name for discussion by members of lower level party organizations.
The congress approved a renovated staff of the Political Rada.
